PM Modi and Union Ministers Honor Operation Sindoor's First Anniversary via X Profile Updates
PM Modi and ministers change X profile photos to commemorate the Operation Sindoor anniversary.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several senior Union ministers changed their profile pictures on X, formerly Twitter, to a commemorative “Operation Sindoor” logo on Wednesday to mark the first anniversary of the military operation launched by India in 2025. The coordinated move by top political leaders and government officials was accompanied by social media tributes praising the Indian Armed Forces for their role in the cross-border mission carried out following the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives last year.
Several prominent ministers, including Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, updated their social media display images with the special anniversary logo. The campaign appeared to be part of a wider digital tribute aimed at commemorating the operation and highlighting the military’s coordinated response during the conflict. Government supporters and several political figures also shared messages honouring the armed forces across social media platforms.
Operation Sindoor was launched by India in the early hours of May 7, 2025, as a precision air and missile strike targeting what authorities described as terrorist infrastructure located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation was conducted in response to the April 22, 2025, terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which left 26 civilians dead. Indian officials had described the mission as a calibrated military response intended to neutralise terror threats while avoiding escalation against civilian or non-military targets.

According to official statements released during the anniversary observance, the operation involved a coordinated tri-service effort by the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy over an 88-hour period. The Indian Army also shared a commemorative video on social media describing the mission as India’s “resolute response” and emphasising the armed forces’ commitment to protecting national sovereignty. The video praised the military’s precision and strategic restraint during the operation while concluding with the message, 'Justice served. Jai Hind.”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh issued a separate video statement paying tribute to the courage and sacrifices of the armed forces personnel involved in the operation. He said Operation Sindoor demonstrated seamless coordination and operational synergy among India’s defence services and reflected the country’s growing military preparedness. Singh described the operation as a symbol of national resolve and said it highlighted the ability of the armed forces to respond decisively during critical situations while maintaining strategic discipline.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also joined the anniversary tribute, sharing a message on social media praising the “indomitable courage, valour and gallantry” of the Indian Army. The first anniversary of Operation Sindoor has triggered widespread online remembrance campaigns, patriotic messaging, and renewed public discussion around India’s military strategy and counter-terror operations. Political leaders across the country have used the occasion to reiterate support for the armed forces and honour personnel involved in the operation.
