PM Modi Accuses Congress of Ignoring Assam’s Culture and Security
PM Modi criticizes Congress over Assam and alleged infiltration issues.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a strong attack on the Congress, accusing the party of disrespecting Assam’s culture and heritage while allegedly rolling out a “red carpet for infiltrators.” Speaking at a Bodo folk dance performance, Modi claimed that the BJP government was now “cleansing the sins” of previous Congress regimes.
Modi alleged that the Congress not only ignored Assam’s unique culture but also kept Bodoland disconnected from the mainstream, fueling unrest instead of resolving issues through dialogue. “Challenges were there in front of Assam. But, instead of finding solutions, Congress pushed the state towards violence,” he said, emphasizing the need for constructive governance.
The Prime Minister accused the Congress of opening the doors for illegal settlers in Assam for “vote bank politics,” resulting in encroachment on land across the state. Modi praised the Himanta Biswa Sarma government for reclaiming encroached land and implementing corrective measures to protect Assam’s identity and resources.

Highlighting his personal connection with the state, Modi said that no other prime minister had visited Assam as frequently as he has. He described the Bagurumba Dwhou Bodo dance performance as more than art—it symbolized respect and recognition for the Bodo community and their traditions.
Modi also credited the Bodo Peace Accord of 2020 with bringing lasting peace to the region, noting that the “sound of gunshots has been replaced by musical instruments.” He reiterated BJP’s commitment to preserving Assam’s culture while promoting development and stability in the northeastern state.
The Prime Minister concluded by urging citizens to support policies that protect local heritage and ensure security, framing BJP’s governance as a decisive corrective to decades of mismanagement under Congress rule.
