OpenAI Shares Five ChatGPT Prompts For Faster Everyday Work
OpenAI recommends prompts to improve workplace efficiency.
OpenAI has shared five practical prompts designed to help professionals save time by using ChatGPT Work, a workplace-focused artificial intelligence (AI) assistant that can streamline routine office tasks. With the launch of ChatGPT Work, the company is positioning its AI beyond a traditional chatbot, enabling it to connect with user-approved apps and files to generate reports, presentations, spreadsheets, meeting briefings and other work-related outputs. OpenAI said ChatGPT Work and Codex now have more than 10 million active users, highlighting the growing adoption of AI for workplace productivity.
One of the recommended prompts helps users begin their workday with a comprehensive briefing instead of manually checking multiple platforms. ChatGPT Work can review emails, calendar events, unread workplace messages and pending tasks from the previous 24 hours to identify urgent priorities, highlight pending decisions, flag overlooked items and create a realistic plan for the day. The company noted that the AI cites the source of every important update and does not take any action without user approval.
OpenAI also showcased prompts for creating weekly project updates and cleaning spreadsheets. By reviewing emails, meeting notes, shared documents and task trackers, ChatGPT Work can generate concise weekly reports summarising completed work, ongoing projects, key decisions, roadblocks and upcoming priorities. For spreadsheets, the AI can identify duplicate entries, missing information, inconsistent formatting, broken formulas and unusual data patterns, while producing a cleaned version of the file without altering the original and explaining every correction made.

Another prompt is aimed at professionals returning from leave, allowing ChatGPT Work to review emails, messages, meetings and shared files from a selected period before preparing a concise summary of key developments. The tool groups related updates, highlights important decisions and lists high-priority tasks requiring attention. OpenAI also recommends using ChatGPT Work to prepare for meetings by analysing agendas, previous discussions, emails, documents and available performance data before producing a detailed briefing that includes background information, unresolved issues, likely discussion points and suggested questions.
OpenAI emphasised that users remain in full control of what ChatGPT Work can access and advised connecting only the applications and files necessary for a specific task. The company also recommends clearly specifying which actions require approval before any information is sent or modified. According to OpenAI, starting with a single repetitive task, while providing clear instructions, sufficient context and the expected output, can help professionals automate routine preparation and devote more time to strategic decision-making and higher-value work.
