NTA Releases NEET Re-Exam FAQs; Confirms June 21 Date, Exam Centres Based on City Choice
NTA releases NEET UG Re-Exam FAQs for the June 21 test; confirms no additional fees and center allocation details.
The National Testing Agency has released an official Frequently Asked Questions document for candidates appearing in the NEET UG re-examination 2026. The clarification comes amid confusion among students regarding exam centers, fee payments, timing, medium of examination, and city preferences. According to the agency, the re-exam will be conducted on June 21, 2026, in pen-and-paper mode across centers in India and abroad. Candidates have also been allowed to update their present address and preferred exam city within the specified timeline. The FAQs aim to address major concerns raised after the original examination process.
NTA clarified that candidates will not be allowed to change the medium of the question paper at this stage. The examination language selected during the original application process will remain final for the re-exam as well. Students who had hoped to switch their exam language have been informed that no fresh modifications will be accepted now. The agency stated that maintaining the original application details is necessary for the smooth conduct of the examination process. Candidates have therefore been advised to carefully check their existing details before downloading future admit cards and notices.
According to the official schedule released by NTA, the NEET UG re-examination 2026 will be held on Sunday, June 21, from 2 PM to 5:15 PM. The agency explained that the additional 15 minutes are not part of the actual test duration but are meant for documentation, verification, and other pre-exam formalities. NTA said these procedures are important to ensure smoother entry and proper identity checks at examination centers. Candidates have been advised to reach their allotted centers well before reporting time to avoid last-minute issues. Authorities also said detailed guidelines regarding entry and verification will be issued separately.

The testing agency further clarified that candidates may not necessarily receive the same examination center allotted during the earlier exam conducted on May 3. NTA said fresh centers will be allocated based on the updated city preferences submitted by candidates during the correction window. Students who faced inconvenience or logistical issues during the previous exam have been encouraged to revise their city choices accordingly. The agency added that center allocation will depend on availability and administrative considerations. Fresh admit cards containing updated center details are expected closer to the examination date.
NTA also confirmed that no additional examination fee will be charged to candidates appearing in the re-exam. This clarification came after several students expressed concerns about whether they would have to pay again for the second attempt. The agency said the re-examination is being conducted as part of the existing process, and therefore candidates will not bear any extra financial burden. Officials urged students to rely only on official notifications and avoid misinformation circulating on social media platforms. Candidates have also been advised to regularly monitor the official NTA website for updates.
The agency additionally addressed complaints related to problems faced during the original examination. Candidates who experienced discomfort, center-related issues, or other difficulties during the May 3 exam have been asked to submit their grievances along with supporting documents to the NTA helpdesk email ID. Officials said these complaints will be reviewed individually by the authorities. The NEET UG re-exam 2026 has remained under close public scrutiny due to controversies surrounding examination management and reported irregularities. With the latest FAQ release, NTA is attempting to provide clearer communication and reduce uncertainty among lakhs of medical aspirants preparing for the re-examination.
