Navjot Kaur Sidhu Quits Congress, Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Ignoring Ground Realities

Navjot Kaur Sidhu attacks Rahul Gandhi for ignoring Punjab corruption.

Former Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu launched a sharp attack on Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi shortly after her exit from the Indian National Congress, alleging the party’s Punjab unit is plagued by corruption and predicting its defeat in the next state elections.

Speaking to reporters in Coimbatore, Sidhu accused Rahul Gandhi of being disconnected from ground realities, saying his public statements do not match his actions. She stressed the importance of grassroots engagement, remarking that leaders must understand “what’s happening at Ground Zero” instead of “living in a dream world.”

Drawing a comparison with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sidhu claimed there were no personal corruption allegations against Modi while questioning the Congress leadership’s credibility. She said Gandhi “talks well” but alleged a gap between his words and decisions within the party.

Sidhu further claimed she had sought an appointment with Gandhi for eight months to highlight what she described as “injustice” in the party’s Punjab unit. She alleged ticket distribution had already been decided and warned that failure to address internal issues would hurt the party’s prospects in Punjab.

The Congress recently expelled Sidhu after she announced her resignation. A former BJP member and MLA from 2012 to 2016, she joined the Congress later but had recently levelled serious allegations against Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, including claims of financial irregularities tied to leadership ambitions—charges the party has not publicly endorsed.
