Meta is hiring an engineering director in Bengaluru to lead its engineering operations in India, according to job listings on its website. This move aligns with other tech giants like Microsoft, Amazon, and Google, which have established strong engineering hubs in India’s Silicon Valley.
The role involves influencing technical decision-making, driving execution, and managing top-tier engineers and engineering managers.
Meta has posted 48 job openings in India, with 41 positions based in Bengaluru, primarily focused on application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) engineers. The company is also hiring hardware engineers to support its growing AI infrastructure, along with roles such as creative strategist, data protection officer, and lead litigation counsel.
With offices in Gurugram, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Hyderabad, Meta considers India one of its most important markets outside the US, both in user base and AI adoption. CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted in an earnings call last year that India is becoming Meta AI’s largest market.
Meta AI, which has over 700 million users globally, is integrated across the company’s platforms, including Instagram and WhatsApp.
Additionally, Meta is building a 50,000-km subsea cable network to connect the US, India, Brazil, South Africa, and other regions. This initiative aims to establish oceanic corridors for high-speed connectivity, crucial for advancing AI innovation worldwide.
