MEA Advises Stranded Foreign Nationals In India To Approach FRRO Amid US-Iran Tensions
MEA urges stranded foreigners in India to approach FRRO offices.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Sunday advised foreign nationals stranded in India due to the escalating conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran to contact the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for assistance. The advisory comes as multiple countries in the Middle East and Gulf region have closed airspaces, and airlines have canceled hundreds of flights following US-Israel strikes against Iran and subsequent retaliatory attacks by Tehran.
“All foreign nationals in India, who have had to change their travel plans due to the ongoing developments in the West Asia region and need assistance with extension of their visa or to regularize their stay, are requested to contact the nearest FRRO,” the MEA said. The ministry added that FRRO offices will provide guidance and support in completing the necessary formalities. Contact details for FRRO offices are available online at https://boi.gov.in/boi/#.
Air travel disruptions across the region have been significant. Major airports in the United Arab Emirates, including Dubai International Airport and Abu Dhabi International Airport, suspended operations following Iranian missile and drone attacks on US facilities. Over 700 flights have been canceled, and further cancellations are expected as the security situation remains volatile.

Dubai International Airport reported limited damage to one of its terminal buildings after an Iranian drone strike and confirmed that four people were injured. In response, authorities temporarily suspended all flights to and from the airport on Sunday while aviation agencies continue to monitor safety conditions closely.
Indian authorities have assured foreign nationals in the country of all necessary support during the disruption, emphasizing that FRRO offices are equipped to provide assistance with visa extensions, stay regularization, and other administrative matters. The MEA advisory underscores India’s commitment to ensuring the safety and legal compliance of foreign visitors amid regional instability.
The ongoing US-Israel-Iran conflict has caused widespread disruptions across the Gulf, highlighting the challenges faced by travelers and prompting diplomatic and administrative interventions by affected countries to safeguard their citizens abroad.
