Maruti Suzuki Posts Best-Ever Monthly Sales in May 2026 With 2,42,688 Units
Maruti Suzuki achieves an all-time monthly sales record driven by SUVs and strong exports.
Maruti Suzuki India recorded its highest-ever monthly sales in May 2026, driven by strong demand across its SUV, passenger vehicle, and export portfolios. The country's largest carmaker sold a total of 242,688 units during the month, marking a significant milestone for the company and highlighting the continued strength of the Indian automobile market. The performance reflects growing consumer interest in utility vehicles as well as sustained demand for popular hatchback and sedan models.
The company's SUV lineup played a major role in achieving the record sales figure. Models such as the Maruti Suzuki Fronx and Maruti Suzuki Brezza continued to attract customers seeking a combination of style, practicality, and fuel efficiency. In the midsize SUV category, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara maintained its strong market position, while the recently introduced Maruti Suzuki eVitara began contributing to the brand's expanding presence in the electric and utility vehicle segments.
Maruti Suzuki also registered robust sales across its passenger car portfolio. Combined sales of key models including the Baleno, Swift, Dzire, WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, and Ciaz reached 81,555 units during May. These vehicles remain among the company's most popular offerings and continue to appeal to a wide range of customers due to their affordability, reliability, and extensive service network across the country.

The entry-level segment also delivered encouraging results. Maruti Suzuki's Alto and S-Presso together recorded sales of 16,275 units, demonstrating that demand for budget-friendly vehicles remains strong despite increasing consumer interest in SUVs. Industry analysts note that first-time car buyers and customers in smaller cities continue to support sales in this category, helping manufacturers maintain balanced growth across segments.
In addition to strong domestic demand, the company reported a significant increase in exports. Maruti Suzuki exported 41,914 units in May 2026, compared with 31,219 units during the same period last year. The growth reflects the company's expanding international footprint and rising acceptance of its vehicles in overseas markets, particularly in regions where affordability and fuel efficiency are key purchasing considerations.
The record-breaking performance underscores Maruti Suzuki's dominant position in the Indian automotive industry. Strong sales of models such as the Fronx, Brezza, Baleno, and Swift, combined with growing export volumes and an expanding SUV portfolio, have helped the company achieve its best-ever monthly sales figure. With demand remaining healthy across multiple segments, Maruti Suzuki appears well-placed to sustain its growth trajectory in the months ahead.
