Kejriwal Gets Fresh Mandate As AAP National Council Backs Him Unanimously Again

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday re-elected Arvind Kejriwal as its national convener during the party's 15th National Council meeting, which was held through video conference. The party also constituted a new 23-member National Executive as part of its organisational restructuring. According to AAP, the meeting was attended by 330 members and was chaired by Kejriwal, who has held the position of national convener since the party was founded in 2012. During the meeting, Kejriwal and other senior party leaders briefed National Council members about the organisation's future strategy, the AAP said.

The deliberations focused on the party's organisational direction and its plans for the coming period. Kejriwal's re-election keeps him at the centre of the party's leadership structure as AAP prepares to pursue its political agenda under its existing organisational framework. The party also announced the election of Pankaj Gupta as national secretary, while N D Gupta will continue to serve as the national treasurer. The appointments were made alongside the formation of the new National Executive, which will serve as the party's key organisational body. The changes come as AAP continues to consolidate its organisational structure and coordinate its activities across states where it has an electoral presence.

The newly constituted 23-member National Executive includes Kejriwal, Atishi, Adil Ahmad Khan, Anurag Dhanda, Bhagwant Mann, Dilip Pandey, Durgesh Pathak, Gopal Italia, Gopal Rai, Rani Agarwal, Harpal Singh Cheema, Manish Sisodia, Mohammad Irshad, N D Gupta, Pankaj Gupta, Preeti Sharma Menon, Prithvi Reddy, Rakhi Birla, Vibhav, Sanjay Singh, Satyendar Jain, Shelly Oberoi and Rajbir. The body brings together senior leaders and representatives from different parts of the party's organisational and political structure. AAP also appointed five special invitees to the National Executive.

The list includes Ajay Dutt, Chaitar Vasava, Imran Hussain, Mehraj Malik and Venzy Viegas. Their inclusion expands the participation of party leaders from different constituencies and regions in the organisation's central decision-making framework. Together with the 23-member executive, the appointments form the leadership structure announced at Wednesday's National Council meeting. Kejriwal's continuation as national convener marks the latest reaffirmation of his longstanding leadership of AAP. He has occupied the position since the party's inception in 2012 and has remained its principal organisational figure.

The National Council meeting also provided the party leadership with an opportunity to outline its future strategy to members while completing the latest round of organisational appointments. The meeting and the formation of the new National Executive come as AAP continues to work on strengthening its organisational network and political strategy. With Kejriwal retaining the national convener's post and senior leaders occupying key positions in the executive, the party will continue under a leadership structure that includes several of its prominent national and state-level figures. The decisions taken at the meeting are expected to guide the party's organisational functioning and political activities in the period ahead.
