Karisma Kapoor Honours Ex-Husband Sunjay Kapur on First Death Anniversary With Heartfelt Post

Karisma Kapoor posts heartfelt message on ex-husband Sunjay Kapur's first death anniversary

Actor Karisma Kapoor on Friday paid tribute to her former husband, businessman Sunjay Kapur, on his first death anniversary with a brief but emotional social media post. The actress shared a message on her Instagram story remembering him, writing “Sunjay in our hearts forever” along with the date and symbolic emojis, marking a personal moment of remembrance for the family.

The post, though simple, carried emotional weight and was widely circulated on social media. It comes a year after Sunjay Kapur’s death in England, which reportedly occurred after a sudden medical emergency while he was playing polo. His passing had drawn widespread attention from both the business and entertainment communities.

Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur were married on September 29, 2003, in a Sikh ceremony, and were once among the most high-profile couples in India. However, the relationship later deteriorated, and the couple filed for divorce by mutual consent in 2014. The divorce was finalised in 2016 after prolonged legal proceedings.

The couple has two children, Samaira and Kiaan, and Karisma has largely maintained a private approach when it comes to personal family matters. Reports suggest that she attended Sunjay Kapur’s last rites in Delhi along with her children, and was joined by members of her family, including Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan.

The remembrance comes amid ongoing discussions and legal disputes within the wider Kapur family regarding inheritance matters following the businessman’s death. While family members continue to navigate complex legal proceedings, individual tributes from close relatives have occasionally surfaced on social media.

Alongside Karisma Kapoor’s post, Sunjay Kapur’s wife Priya Sachdev Kapur also shared a remembrance message, highlighting his influence and values. As family members marked the anniversary in their own ways, the occasion reflected both personal grief and public attention surrounding the legacy of the late businessman.
