Massive fire at Nashik’s Star Mall triggers panic; nearby hospital evacuated.
A massive fire broke out at Star Mall in Nashik on Wednesday, triggering panic among residents and shopkeepers in the surrounding area. The incident prompted an immediate emergency response, with fire brigades, police personnel, and disaster response teams rushing to the site to contain the rapidly spreading blaze.
According to initial reports, the fire originated inside the commercial complex and quickly intensified, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky. The visibility of smoke from a considerable distance caused alarm across nearby localities, with people evacuating the vicinity as a precaution. Firefighters deployed multiple engines and began intensive operations to bring the situation under control.
The scale of the fire led authorities to initiate emergency safety protocols in nearby establishments. As a precautionary measure, patients from a hospital located close to the mall were safely evacuated. Hospital staff, along with emergency responders, coordinated the evacuation process to ensure patients were moved away from potential danger zones, particularly due to concerns over smoke inhalation and possible fire spread.

While the operation continued for several hours, officials reported that containment efforts were progressing steadily, though full extinguishing of the fire required additional time due to its intensity.

Preliminary assessments suggest that the origin point was inside the mall premises, but a detailed investigation will be conducted once the situation is fully stabilised. Forensic and fire safety teams are expected to examine the site to determine whether the incident was triggered by an electrical fault, short circuit, or any other technical failure.
No casualties have been reported at the time of filing this report, though officials are continuing to assess the situation. Emergency teams remain deployed at the site to monitor any flare-ups and ensure that the fire does not reignite. Police have also cordoned off the area to restrict public movement and facilitate rescue and firefighting operations.
The incident caused significant disruption in the surrounding locality, with traffic diverted and nearby businesses temporarily shut down as a safety measure. Residents expressed concern over the suddenness of the blaze and the dense smoke that engulfed parts of the area.As firefighting operations continue, authorities have urged citizens to avoid the affected zone until the area is declared safe.
