#JustIn: Jaish Terrorist Adil Neutralised in Kishtwar After Evading Capture 20 Times
Security forces neutralised Pakistani Jaish terrorist Adil in Kishtwar after he repeatedly escaped encounters over 18 months.
Indian security forces have killed a Pakistani national and senior Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist during a counter-terror operation in the remote Chhatroo area of Kishtwar district, officials said on Wednesday. The militant, identified as Adil, had been on the run for nearly 18 months and was known for repeatedly evading security cordons in the region.
The encounter took place as part of a sustained intelligence-led mission involving the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Acting on specific inputs about militant movement, security forces launched a coordinated search operation in the dense forests and mountainous terrain of Chhatroo, eventually cornering the terrorist in a gunfight.
Officials said Adil had managed to escape security forces on nearly 20 previous occasions by exploiting the difficult terrain and local hideouts, often breaking through cordons during search operations. This time, however, forces were able to tighten the perimeter and prevent any escape routes, leading to his neutralisation after an exchange of fire.
Adil was believed to be a close associate of senior JeM commander Saifullah, another Pakistani terrorist who is still at large in the region. According to security agencies, the group had infiltrated the Kishtwar-Doda belt to revive militant activity and had been involved in planning and executing attacks targeting security personnel.
Following the encounter, security forces intensified search operations in and around the area to track down remaining militants, including Saifullah. Additional troops, drones and surveillance assets have been deployed to prevent any further movement or escape by operatives hiding in the forested इलाके.
The killing is being seen as a significant operational success in the ongoing crackdown against Pakistan-based terror outfits operating in Jammu and Kashmir. Officials said such sustained operations are aimed at dismantling militant networks, disrupting infiltration routes and restoring long-term security in the region.
