JK Cement Starts 525-Acre Jaisalmer Plant, Eyes 2027 Finish with Green Tech
JK Cement Ltd., a leading Indian cement manufacturer, kicked off construction of its new greenfield plant in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, on Saturday with a groundbreaking ceremony. The Rs 3,000 crore project on a 525-acre site aims to boost the company's pan-India presence, enhance production capacity, and support national infrastructure growth, with completion slated for early 2027.
The facility's strategic location ensures access to local limestone reserves for raw material security, while proximity to high-demand markets in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Haryana facilitates network expansion. Managing Director Raghavpat Singhania highlighted the plant's role in fostering employment, skill development, and regional progress: "This facility will strengthen our capabilities and contribute responsibly to India's economic ambitions."
CEO and Joint Managing Director Madhavkrishna Singhania described it as a "defining moment", emphasising cutting-edge technology, sustainability through waste heat recovery systems for energy efficiency and reduced carbon footprint, and value creation for stakeholders and communities. The project is expected to generate direct and indirect jobs, promote local youth skills, and improve social infrastructure.
