Jaishankar Warns Of Global Economic And Political Churn
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday warned of growing uncertainty in the global political and economic order, saying volatility and complexity had increasingly become defining features of the international environment. Speaking at the BRICS Business Forum in New Delhi, Jaishankar said a combination of geopolitical conflicts, pandemics and climate-related disruptions was creating economic consequences for countries and businesses worldwide. Jaishankar said the global order was undergoing significant change as multiple disruptions affected economic stability and international cooperation.
According to the minister, geopolitical tensions were no longer confined to the political sphere and were increasingly having direct consequences for trade, investment, supply chains and broader economic activity. The remarks came as business leaders and representatives from BRICS countries gathered in the national capital alongside the leaders' summit. The External Affairs Minister also pointed to the impact of pandemics and climate-related disruptions on economies.
