Israel May Join US Strikes Against Iran, Target Energy Infrastructure: Report

Israel may join US strikes against Iran energy infrastructure.

Israel’s military has reportedly been placed on high alert and is preparing for the possibility of joining renewed United States strikes against Iran, with potential focus on Iranian energy infrastructure, according to Israeli media reports cited by Al Jazeera.

The reports, attributed to Israel’s public broadcaster Kan, cited an unnamed security official as saying that Israel would take part in any new US-led strikes and could target Iran’s energy infrastructure as part of a coordinated military response. The development comes amid rising regional tensions and stalled diplomatic efforts involving Iran and Western powers.

The reports followed a phone call between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday, which reportedly lasted more than 30 minutes. According to Kan, the two leaders discussed the possibility of renewed hostilities involving Iran, although no official confirmation of military planning has been issued by either government.

Israeli broadcaster Channel 12 also reported that discussions were taking place “in the shadow of preparations for renewed fighting in Iran,” adding that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had been placed on heightened alert. The report suggested that Israel expects to be informed by the United States in advance of any strike decision, though the exact timing remains unclear.

Further reports in Israeli media indicated that IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has directed the military to elevate its state of readiness and prepare for the possibility of an immediate resumption of hostilities. The alert level has reportedly been significantly increased as part of contingency planning.

The developments come as diplomatic talks between the United States and Iran appear to have broken down. Tensions have escalated since earlier conflicts in the region, with key flashpoints including the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy shipping route. The situation continues to raise concerns over potential disruption to global energy supplies and wider regional instability.
