Infosys Pune Issues Advisory on Limited Food Services Amid LPG Shortage
Infosys Pune limits food court services due to LPG shortage; employees advised to bring food from home.
Amid the ongoing LPG shortage in India linked to Middle East geopolitical tensions, Infosys, the country’s second-largest IT company, has issued an advisory to employees at its Pune campus regarding on-campus food arrangements and activities. The advisory comes as commercial LPG supplies have been limited, affecting food operations across the country.
According to The Indian Express, the company informed employees that food courts on the campus would operate with a reduced menu due to constraints in LPG supply. Staff were also advised to bring food from home and to avoid organizing events on campus that require catering services. The advisory was shared via an email sent by the canteen committee on Thursday.
The email reportedly stated that, following government directions, commercial usage of LPG has been regulated due to the current geopolitical situation. Vendors supplying food courts at the campus have been receiving limited LPG supplies, which is preventing them from functioning at full capacity. To manage the situation, some cooked food items are being sourced from vendors’ external central kitchens, while the use of electrical appliances and biofuel for food preparation is being increased.

The advisory also highlighted that the situation is being closely monitored, with the food services team coordinating regularly with LPG suppliers and food court operators to address supply issues. Employees were encouraged to bring their own meals to reduce crowding, as queues may form at the limited counters that remain operational.
The impact of the LPG shortage has been reported across multiple sectors and cities, affecting commercial food and beverage operations nationwide. Inside the Infosys Pune campus, large food courts are adapting to the limited supply while ensuring employees continue to have access to essential meals.
Infosys’ advisory reflects broader challenges faced by companies amid the current LPG scarcity, emphasizing operational adjustments and employee cooperation to manage services effectively while maintaining safety and convenience.
