Indian Air Force Airlifts Paralysed Woman, 85, From Snow-Hit Village In Himachal Pradesh
IAF's Cheetah helicopter evacuated an elderly paralysed woman from a cut-off Himalayan village to hospital amid blizzard conditions.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully airlifted an 85-year-old paralysed woman from a snow-hit village in Himachal Pradesh, carrying out a critical rescue operation amid harsh weather conditions. The evacuation was undertaken after local authorities flagged the woman’s medical condition and the inaccessibility of the area due to heavy snowfall.
According to official sources, the woman was stranded in her remote village after snow blocked road connectivity, making ground evacuation impossible. Given her age and paralysed condition, timely medical assistance became a concern, prompting a request for aerial support. The Indian Air Force responded by deploying a helicopter to carry out the evacuation.
The operation was conducted under challenging conditions, with low temperatures and difficult terrain complicating the mission. Despite these obstacles, the IAF crew successfully airlifted the woman and transported her to a safer location, where she could receive necessary medical care. Authorities have not disclosed further details about her health condition, but confirmed that the evacuation was completed without complications.

Himachal Pradesh frequently faces disruptions during the winter months, particularly in higher-altitude and interior regions where snowfall often cuts off villages for days or even weeks. In such situations, air rescue operations play a crucial role in ensuring access to emergency healthcare, especially for elderly residents and those with serious medical conditions.
The Indian Air Force has regularly undertaken humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions across the country, including medical evacuations during floods, landslides, and extreme weather events. This latest operation once again highlighted the role of the armed forces in supporting civil authorities and providing life-saving assistance in remote and disaster-affected regions.
