Google's Rs 1.35 Lakh Crore Data Centre Near Visakhapatnam to Break Ground on April 28
Google breaks ground near Visakhapatnam on India's largest ever foreign investment.
The Andhra Pradesh Government is set to host a major milestone in India’s digital infrastructure growth, as Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation stone for Google’s massive data centre project near Visakhapatnam on April 28. The project, valued at approximately $15 billion (around ₹1.35 lakh crore), is being described as one of the largest foreign investments in both the state and the country.
The upcoming data centre hub will be spread across three locations near Visakhapatnam—Adavivaram, Tarluvada, and Rambilli—covering a total of 601.4 acres. Among these, Tarluvada will host the largest campus, spanning 266.6 acres, while the remaining land will be utilised at the other two sites to develop a multi-campus infrastructure ecosystem.
Officials have indicated that the project is expected to be fully operational by July 2028, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a key player in India’s growing digital economy. The facility will be designed to support advanced technologies such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and large-scale data storage, reflecting the increasing demand for digital services across sectors.

A key highlight of the project is its planned power capacity of 1 gigawatt, which would make it India’s first such high-capacity artificial intelligence and data centre hub. It is also expected to be the largest cluster of its kind in Asia, significantly boosting the country’s capabilities in handling next-generation digital workloads and global data demands.
The infrastructure will include advanced connectivity features such as submarine cable links and high-speed fibre networks, enabling seamless integration with global digital systems. This connectivity is expected to strengthen Visakhapatnam’s position as an emerging technology hub and improve India’s competitiveness in the global data economy.
The project follows a memorandum of understanding signed between the Andhra Pradesh government and Google on October 14, 2025, in New Delhi. Earlier this year, in February, the state government completed the land allotment process, paving the way for construction to begin. The development is expected to generate employment opportunities and accelerate economic growth in the region while reinforcing India’s ambitions in the digital and technology sector.
