As Holi splashed the world with vibrant hues, tech giants Apple and Google joined the celebrations in their own creative ways.
As Holi splashed the world with vibrant hues, tech giants Apple and Google joined the celebrations in their own creative ways. Google introduced a special “Colour Picker” feature, allowing users to explore different shades right from the search bar. By typing “colour picker” into Google, a spectrum of colours appears, enabling users to adjust hues and view their RGB, HEX, and other values—an interactive and practical tool for both fun and design enthusiasts. Google showcased the feature on Instagram with the text overlay, “Colours used in Holi.”
Meanwhile, Apple CEO Tim Cook extended Holi greetings with a stunning #ShotOniPhone image captured by Kushagra Tiwari, co-founder and CEO of Exif Media. Sharing the image on X (formerly Twitter), Cook wrote, “Happy Holi to all those celebrating! May it be as joyous and fun as Kushagra Tiwari’s beautiful #ShotOniPhone photo.” The image depicted a person in an orange and pink outfit, joyfully holding a plate filled with colourful powders and flower petals, their face streaked with red and blue as petals rained down.
Apple has made it a tradition to celebrate Holi through photography. In previous years, Cook shared vibrant Holi images by Indian photographers Joshua Karthik, Apeksha Maker, and Gursimran Basra, showcasing the festival’s essence through iPhone lenses.
Holi, marking the arrival of spring, is a festival of colours, unity, and joy. As people across the world celebrated with playful splashes of colour, music, and sweets, Apple and Google’s digital tributes added a modern, global touch to the age-old tradition.
Earlier on Friday, Archie Comic Publications announced a special 10-page story, titled ‘Celebration Surprise’, featuring popular characters Archie, Betty, and Veronica learning about Holi. The latest edition of ‘The World of Betty & Veronica Digest’ #38 released just in time for the festival of colours in India featured the special story called ‘Celebration Surprise’.
