Flipkart Creates 2.5 Lakh Festive Jobs Across India, 75,000 First-Time Workers

Flipkart’s festive hiring expands employment opportunities across India.

E-commerce marketplace Flipkart has created more than 2.5 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities across India ahead of the upcoming festive season, as the company expands its logistics and delivery network to handle the expected increase in online shopping. The hiring drive covers more than 7,000 Ekart facilities, including fulfilment centres, sortation hubs and last-mile delivery operations.

Of the total employment opportunities, nearly 75,000, or about 30 per cent, are being filled by people entering the workforce for the first time. Flipkart said the initiative is aimed at strengthening its operational capacity during the festive period while also creating opportunities for new workers across different parts of the country. The expansion comes as e-commerce companies prepare for a seasonal increase in orders.

Around 60 per cent of Flipkart’s new roles will be in last-mile delivery, accounting for nearly 1.4 lakh employment opportunities. The company is also adding more than 900 festive delivery hubs, particularly to meet growing demand in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. These hubs will also support the expansion of Flipkart Minutes, the company’s quick-commerce business.

Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President of Supply Chain, Customer Experience and Re-Commerce at Flipkart Group, said the company was expanding its supply chain network to manage the higher demand expected during the festive season. He said the expansion would simultaneously create employment opportunities across various regions. Flipkart added that women currently account for more than 20 per cent of its supply chain workforce.

The announcement comes as other major e-commerce companies also increase seasonal hiring ahead of the festive shopping period. Amazon India has created more than 1.6 lakh seasonal employment opportunities across its operations network, while Meesho said last month that it expected to generate more than 10 lakh seasonal job opportunities across its seller and logistics ecosystem.

The seasonal hiring push reflects the broader expansion of e-commerce logistics and delivery networks as companies prepare for higher order volumes during India’s festive period. With demand expected to rise across both major cities and smaller markets, companies are strengthening fulfilment, sorting and last-mile operations while bringing more workers into the workforce to support the seasonal surge.
