Flights To Kuwait, Salalah, Muscat Resume: Air India Express Restores Services From India

Air India Express resumes Gulf flights as tensions ease.

Air India Express has resumed full operations across its West Asia network, reinstating services to key destinations including Kuwait, Salalah and Muscat from multiple Indian cities after regional tensions eased. The airline confirmed on Wednesday that flight schedules, which had earlier been disrupted due to security concerns in parts of West Asia, are now being gradually restored to normal levels. According to the airline’s statement, services between Kozhikode and Salalah resumed from July 2, while flights from Kozhikode to Kuwait are set to restart on July 3.

These routes are among the most significant in the carrier’s Gulf network, catering to a large number of Indian expatriates working in the region as well as leisure and business travellers. The restoration of connectivity also includes the resumption of flights between Mangaluru and Muscat starting July 3. In addition, Air India Express will restart its Bengaluru-Kuwait service from July 4, operating on a once-a-week frequency initially. The phased return of operations reflects a cautious approach as the airline monitors evolving conditions in the region.

Air India Express stated that with these latest developments, it has now restored services to all destinations within its West Asia network. The airline plays a crucial role in India-Gulf air connectivity, serving as a major carrier for migrant workers and families travelling between India and countries in the Middle East. West Asia remains one of the most important international markets for the airline, with strong demand for direct flights from Indian cities to destinations across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.

The carrier currently operates services to 13 destinations in the Middle East, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, making it one of the key players in the India-Gulf aviation corridor. The airline also advised passengers to check updated flight schedules and real-time status through its official communication channels, as operations continue to stabilise following the easing of geopolitical tensions in the region. It added that flight restoration will help ease travel disruptions that had affected thousands of passengers over the past few weeks.

Industry observers note that the resumption of services is likely to bring relief to the large Indian diaspora in the Gulf region, many of whom depend on direct and affordable connectivity for work and family travel. The gradual normalisation of air routes is also expected to support increased passenger traffic during the upcoming travel period, as airlines adjust capacity in line with improving conditions. With stability returning to key West Asian air corridors, Air India Express’s move signals a broader recovery in regional aviation, as carriers work to rebuild schedules and restore passenger confidence following a period of uncertainty.
