FIFA World Cup 2026 Final Ticket Price Hiked to Rs 10.19 Lakh — Here is Why

FIFA hikes World Cup 2026 final ticket prices sharply as the full 48-team tournament field is confirmed.

FIFA has significantly increased ticket prices for the final of the FIFA World Cup 2026, with the most expensive seats now costing $10,990 (approximately ₹10.19 lakh). The revised pricing was revealed during the reopening of ticket sales on Wednesday, which was reportedly affected by technical glitches. The price hike comes after the confirmation of the expanded 48-team lineup for the upcoming global football tournament.

The final match is scheduled to take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium, one of the premier sporting venues in the United States. The sharp increase in ticket prices highlights the growing commercial scale of the tournament, which will be co-hosted across multiple cities in North America. FIFA’s decision reflects strong anticipated demand for the final, which traditionally attracts global audiences and high-profile attendees.

Earlier, during ticket sales held after the tournament draw in December, the top-tier tickets were priced at $8,680. The new pricing marks a notable jump, making it one of the most expensive football match tickets in the history of the competition. Alongside the highest category, other ticket tiers have also seen substantial increases, raising concerns among fans about accessibility and affordability.

Category 2 tickets for the final are now priced at $7,380, up from $5,575, while Category 3 tickets cost $5,785, compared to the earlier price of $4,185. These increases indicate a consistent upward revision across all premium seating categories. The changes suggest a broader pricing strategy by FIFA aimed at maximising revenue from marquee matches, particularly the final, which is the most watched event of the tournament.

The ticket sale process, however, was not without issues, as fans reported technical glitches during the reopening phase. The high demand, combined with system challenges, created difficulties for many users attempting to secure tickets. Despite these concerns, FIFA has not yet issued a detailed explanation regarding the disruptions experienced during the sales window.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to be the first edition featuring 48 teams, expanding from the previous 32-team format. This expansion is expected to increase global participation and viewership, further elevating the tournament’s commercial appeal. As anticipation builds, ticket pricing and availability are likely to remain key talking points among fans worldwide.
