Family Devastated as 6-Year-Old Dies After Injection Before MRI Scan in Greater Noida

A 6-year-old boy dies during an MRI scan in Greater Noida; the family alleges overdose negligence.

A six-year-old boy died during an MRI scan at a private diagnostic centre in Greater Noida on Thursday, prompting allegations of medical negligence from the child’s family, police said. The incident has triggered an official inquiry, with authorities awaiting the medical report to determine the exact cause of death.

According to police officials, the child was administered an injection before undergoing the MRI procedure. Family members have alleged that the boy died due to an “excessive dose of medication” given prior to the scan. The diagnostic facility involved falls under the jurisdiction of the Beta 2 police station.

Station House Officer Vinod Kumar confirmed that a complaint has been filed based on the family’s allegations. He said further action will depend on the findings of the medical examination. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any procedural lapse or overdose occurred.

The tragic incident has raised fresh concerns about safety protocols during diagnostic procedures, particularly for young children who are often sedated to remain still during MRI scans. Medical experts typically stress strict dosage control and continuous monitoring when administering sedatives to minors.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and that appropriate legal steps will be taken once the medical report is received. Meanwhile, the family continues to seek accountability, alleging negligence on the part of the diagnostic centre.
