Engineers Are Backbone of Viksit Bharat Vision Says PM Modi

PM celebrates techies’ role in India’s development journey.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt greetings to India’s engineering community on Engineers’ Day, emphasizing their pivotal role in shaping a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India). The occasion, celebrated annually to honor the contributions of engineers, also commemorates the birth anniversary of Sir M. Visvesvaraya, a legendary civil engineer, administrator, and Bharat Ratna recipient whose visionary work transformed India’s infrastructure landscape.

In a post on X, Modi paid tribute to Visvesvaraya, stating, “Today, on Engineers’ Day, I pay homage to Sir M. Visvesvaraya, whose brilliance left an indelible mark on India’s engineering landscape.” He lauded the nation’s engineers for their creativity, resilience, and problem-solving prowess, which continue to drive innovation across diverse sectors, from infrastructure and technology to sustainable development. “Our engineers will continue playing a crucial role in the collective efforts to build a Viksit Bharat,” Modi affirmed, underscoring their importance in achieving India’s ambitious goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Engineers’ Day holds special significance in India, recognizing the unsung heroes who design and build the nation’s roads, bridges, dams, and digital infrastructure. Sir M. Visvesvaraya, born in 1861, is celebrated for his groundbreaking contributions, including the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam in Karnataka and innovative flood control systems, which remain benchmarks of engineering excellence. His legacy inspires generations of engineers to tackle complex challenges with ingenuity and dedication.
