Eelam Tamil Women’s Delegation Meets Stalin In Chennai
Delegation discusses concerns and seeks support from Stalin.
A delegation representing the Voice of Eelam Tamil Women met DMK president M.K. Stalin at Anna Arivalayam in Chennai on Saturday and sought continued support for the rights and protection of Tamils in Sri Lanka. The delegation comprised 10 women representing eight districts identified by the organisation as part of the traditional Tamil homeland in Sri Lanka.
The representatives said they had come together to draw attention to what they described as continuing attempts to undermine the cultural heritage, identity and homeland of Eelam Tamils. The delegation briefed Stalin on political, cultural and humanitarian concerns affecting Tamil communities and sought greater attention to their issues from political parties and civil society organisations in Tamil Nadu.
The delegation included Santhamalar Antony Johnson from Trincomalee, Lakshmanarajani Jayaprakash from Batticaloa, Sindhuja Chouhan from Ampara, Jagadambigai Vigneswaran from Mullaitivu, Saroja Kuganesadasan from Vavuniya and Patricia Alex from Mannar. Vanceline Kandasamy and Subadharshini Sachithanantham represented Kilinochchi, while Jamuna Chandrakumar and Vimaleswari Srikantharoopan represented Jaffna.

During the meeting, the representatives alleged that measures were continuing to weaken Tamil identity and alter the character of areas traditionally inhabited by Tamils. The organisation described these developments as part of what it termed an ongoing genocide aimed at erasing the established culture and national identity of Eelam Tamils. These claims were presented by the delegation during its interaction with Stalin.
The women also expressed gratitude to the people of Tamil Nadu for what they described as longstanding solidarity with Sri Lankan Tamils. They thanked individuals and organisations that had worked to raise awareness about alleged human rights violations and campaigned for justice for those affected by Sri Lanka’s prolonged ethnic conflict.
The delegation urged Stalin and the DMK to continue raising the concerns of Eelam Tamils at national and international forums. It also stressed the importance of protecting the cultural identity, land rights and dignity of Tamil communities, while seeking justice, accountability and political rights for those affected by the conflict and its aftermath.
