ED Raid in Punjab: Cash Thrown From Window at CM Mann Aide's Premises
ED raids IT professional linked to Punjab CM's aide; cash allegedly hurled from the window.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday conducted raids at multiple locations in Punjab, including the residence of an IT professional in Mohali who is reportedly considered close to an aide of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The operation took place at Flat No. 906 in Western Towers, Sector 127, Chajju Majra near Kharar, where officials carried out an extensive search as part of an ongoing investigation. The latest ED action comes amid a series of raids involving leaders and individuals linked to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the state.
During the operation, two bags allegedly containing cash were reportedly thrown from the building, triggering commotion in the residential complex. According to sources, morning walkers noticed currency notes scattered across the area and informed authorities soon after. ED officials later recovered and seized the bags before continuing their search operation, which reportedly lasted for several hours. While the agency has not officially disclosed the amount of money recovered, the incident quickly drew public and political attention due to its dramatic nature.
The premises belonged to IT professional Nitin Gohal, who sources claim has connections with an aide close to the chief minister. However, neither the ED nor the Punjab government has publicly confirmed the nature of these links. The enforcement agency also reportedly searched the premises of Bir Devinder Singh in Mohali, who is believed to be associated with an AAP functionary. Officials have remained tight-lipped about the exact scope of the investigation, and no formal statement regarding arrests or charges had been issued at the time of reporting.

The raids have intensified political tensions in Punjab, where opposition parties have repeatedly accused the ruling AAP government of irregularities, allegations that the party has consistently denied. The ED’s latest move is being viewed as part of a broader crackdown involving politicians and individuals linked to influential figures in the state. As investigations continue, officials are expected to examine financial records, digital evidence, and recovered materials to determine whether any violations of financial or anti-money laundering laws took place.
