Dubai Travel Advisory: Airlines Detail Refund, Cancellation And Rebooking Rules

Airlines explain refund eligibility, cancellation charges and rebooking policies for disrupted Dubai flights.

Major airlines operating flights to and from Dubai have implemented flexible refund and rescheduling policies amid widespread flight disruptions caused by the ongoing closure of regional airspace and temporary suspension of operations at Dubai International Airport (DXB) and other Gulf hubs.

The disruptions stem from escalating tensions in the Middle East, including airspace closures following recent military developments involving Iran and other regional actors. As a result, airlines such as Emirates, Etihad Airways, flydubai, IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet have cancelled or suspended numerous flights, stranding thousands of passengers and prompting proactive travel advisories. Dubai Airports has confirmed that all operations at DXB and Al Maktoum International remain suspended until further notice, with airlines extending groundings through at least March 3, 2026, in many cases. Passengers are strongly advised not to head to the airport and to check official airline channels for real-time updates.

Emirates, the primary carrier at Dubai, has temporarily suspended all flights to and from DXB until 15:00 UAE time on March 3, 2026. For affected passengers with bookings up to March 5, the airline offers free rebooking on alternate flights to the same destination on or before March 20, 2026, or a full refund via their online refund form for direct bookings (those booked through agents should contact the agent). The carrier emphasizes monitoring the dynamic situation and assisting impacted customers with alternative arrangements.

Indian carriers have also extended waivers for India-UAE routes. IndiGo provides free rescheduling or full refunds for passengers booked on or before February 28, 2026, for travel through March 7, 2026, due to precautionary measures in West Asian airspace. Air India and SpiceJet have similarly suspended services and offered no-fee changes or complete refunds for eligible Gulf-bound bookings up to early March. Etihad Airways and flydubai extend comparable options, including complimentary rebooking windows (often up to mid-March) and refund processes, with welfare support for stranded passengers where applicable.

Passengers should immediately review their booking details, contact their airline or travel agent, and use official websites or apps to request changes—options typically include full refunds to the original payment method or no-cost date shifts within specified periods. Authorities recommend keeping documentation handy and staying informed via airline notifications, as the situation evolves rapidly and policies may adjust. Travelers with imminent plans are urged to explore alternative routings or delay non-essential trips until stability returns to regional aviation.
