Domino's to Give Free Pizzas Worth $1 Million After USA Red Card
Domino's honours pledge, gives free pizzas after Balogun's red card.
Domino's will give away USD 1 million worth of free pizzas after United States forward Folarin Balogun received a red card during the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32 match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The giveaway is part of a promotional campaign announced by the pizza chain before the tournament, under which the company promised to distribute more than 60,000 free medium "Emergency Pizzas" if any member of the U.S. men's national team was sent off during the competition. Balogun's dismissal officially triggered the offer.
The incident occurred during the second half of the knockout match on Wednesday. Despite being reduced to 10 men, the United States held its nerve and secured qualification for the Round of 16. Malik Tillman scored from a free-kick in the 82nd minute to seal the victory, ensuring the red card did not derail the team's campaign. Balogun had earlier scored his third goal of the tournament before being shown the red card.
Domino's had unveiled the promotion ahead of the FIFA World Cup, saying it wanted to celebrate the tournament while giving fans a reason to enjoy the matches regardless of the outcome. The company stated that if a U.S. player received a red card, it would distribute USD 1 million worth of free "Emergency Pizzas" to eligible customers. Alongside the campaign, Domino's also launched a limited-edition line of football-themed merchandise in collaboration with Saturdays Football.

The promotion is available only to customers who registered on the Domino's website before the specified deadline of June 10 and enrolled in the Domino's Rewards programme. Eligible participants selected under the campaign will be able to redeem their free "Emergency Pizza" within the validity period announced by the company. Domino's has advised customers to follow the redemption instructions provided through their registered accounts.
While the promotional campaign has generated excitement among football fans, Balogun's dismissal could have sporting consequences for the United States. Depending on the referee's report and the disciplinary committee's assessment of the offence, the striker could face a suspension of one or more matches. His absence would be a significant setback as the United States prepares for its Round of 16 fixture.
The campaign highlights the growing trend of major brands linking promotional offers to sporting events to engage supporters during global tournaments. Domino's pledge has now become one of the most talked-about marketing campaigns of the FIFA World Cup 2026, with the unexpected red card turning into a reward for thousands of eligible customers. As the United States advances in the tournament, fans now have another reason to celebrate beyond their team's progression.
