Delhi Rolls Out New AC Bus Service to Baraut, Boosting Interstate Travel

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta launches DTC's air-conditioned bus service to Baraut, UP, promising enhanced connectivity and more routes soon.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated an interstate air-conditioned bus service by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) connecting Delhi’s Maharana Pratap ISBT to Baraut in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The initiative aims to improve daily commuting for residents and students, with plans to expand similar services to other states in the coming months.

Speaking at the launch, Gupta praised government officials, likening them to Lord Hanuman for their dedication when motivated. “Our officials are like Hanuman—ignite their passion, and they deliver exceptional results. Since our government took charge, they’ve been thriving in a supportive environment, bringing innovative ideas to the table,” she said.

Gupta urged Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh and DTC officials to launch buses to a new state every month. She criticized the previous government for halting interstate bus services, which she claimed stifled revenue generation. “I always wondered why buses from Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh operate here, but Delhi’s buses were absent from other states. We’re changing that,” she remarked.

The new service, covering a 60-kilometer route, offers affordable fares ranging from Rs 32 to Rs 125. The route connects key stops including Khajuri Khas, Bhajan Pura, Loni, Khekra, Baghpat, and Saroorpur, ensuring seamless travel between Delhi and Baraut.

Gupta also highlighted ongoing efforts to optimize Delhi’s bus network. “We’re conducting a route rationalization study to balance bus distribution across routes. Some had 15 buses, others none. We’re fixing that,” she said. Additionally, she addressed inefficiencies in bus maintenance, noting that repair teams now operate from the nearest depot to reduce delays and traffic congestion.

Transport Minister Pankaj Singh emphasized the government’s commitment to restoring DTC’s prominence. “We’re working tirelessly to bring back the corporation’s lost glory and make commuting easier for all,” he said.

The new AC bus service is a game-changer for commuters, offering a comfortable and cost-effective travel option. With this launch, Delhi takes a significant step toward strengthening interstate connectivity, with more routes on the horizon.
