Delhi Deploys Heavy Security At Jantar Mantar As CJP Protest Enters Crucial Phase

Heavy security was deployed at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on Wednesday as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) intensified its protest demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the recent paper leaks controversy. A large contingent of Delhi Police personnel was stationed at the protest site to maintain law and order, with authorities maintaining heightened vigilance amid fears that the demonstrations could escalate.

Jantar Mantar, a designated venue for public protests in the national capital, witnessed the gathering of CJP leaders, workers and supporters who raised slogans against the Centre over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations. The party has accused the government of failing to prevent repeated examination paper leaks, arguing that the incidents have undermined the credibility of recruitment and entrance tests while affecting the futures of thousands of aspirants. Protesters reiterated their demand for Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation, alleging that accountability was necessary to restore public confidence in the examination system.

To prevent any disruption, Delhi Police deployed additional personnel in and around the protest site and kept a close watch on the movement of demonstrators. Barricades were placed at strategic locations, while security personnel monitored entry and exit points to ensure that the protest remained peaceful. Officials said the deployment was part of standard security measures taken during large political demonstrations in the capital. Traffic movement in parts of central Delhi was also regulated to avoid congestion around the protest venue.

Even as the demonstration at Jantar Mantar continued under tight security, violence erupted later in Connaught Place, leaving a senior police officer injured. According to Delhi Police, the incident took place at around 8:30 pm near Tolstoy Marg, where a group of miscreants allegedly attacked security personnel with stones and bottles. The sudden attack led to brief chaos in the area as police personnel attempted to disperse the crowd and restore order. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether those involved were directly linked to the ongoing protest.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Vivek Bhagat of the Connaught Place division sustained injuries during the stone-pelting incident. Senior police officers immediately shifted him to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, where he received medical treatment. Police officials said the situation remained tense for several minutes following the attack before additional forces were deployed to secure the area. Law enforcement personnel managed to bring the situation under control, and officials later confirmed that peace had been restored.

Delhi Police have launched an investigation into the violence and are working to identify those responsible for attacking police personnel. Officials are examining CCTV footage from the area and gathering evidence to determine the sequence of events leading up to the incident. Authorities have not announced any arrests so far but said appropriate legal action would be taken against those found involved in the attack. Security remains heightened across key parts of the national capital as the CJP protest continues.

Police have maintained deployment at Jantar Mantar and other sensitive locations to prevent any further law-and-order issues. The protest over the paper leaks controversy has emerged as a significant political flashpoint, with opposition parties demanding greater accountability from the government over examination-related irregularities.
