Deepinder Goyal Steps Down As Eternal CEO; Albinder Dhindsa Takes Over

Deepinder Goyal steps down as Eternal CEO; Albinder Dhindsa succeeds.

Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal has announced that he is stepping down as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Eternal, the parent company of the popular food delivery platform, marking a significant leadership transition at one of India’s leading consumer internet firms. Goyal shared the update in a communication addressed to Eternal’s shareholders, outlining his reasons for the move and the future leadership structure of the group.

In his message, Goyal said the decision to step down as Group CEO was driven by his desire to explore new ideas and opportunities outside Eternal. While he did not specify the nature of these pursuits, he described the move as a personal choice aimed at allowing him the freedom to think and work beyond the company’s existing operational framework.

Despite relinquishing executive responsibilities, Goyal clarified that he does not intend to sever ties with the company he founded. Subject to shareholder approval, he will continue to remain on Eternal’s board of directors. In this role, he plans to stay involved in shaping the group’s long-term vision and strategic direction, even as day-to-day operations transition to new leadership.

Goyal also named the next chief executive who will take charge of the group, noting that the incoming CEO will be responsible for all operational decisions going forward. He emphasized that the leadership change is structured to ensure continuity and stability, allowing Eternal to maintain its growth trajectory while benefiting from fresh executive oversight.

The announcement comes at a time when Zomato and its parent entity, Eternal, are navigating an increasingly competitive digital services landscape. Goyal’s step back from executive control signals a new phase for the company, balancing founder-led vision with professional management as it looks to consolidate and expand its business in the years ahead.
