#BreakingNews: 1 Passenger Killed in Tatanagar-Ernakulam Express Coach Fire in Andhra

One passenger killed as fire engulfs two coaches of Tatanagar-Ernakulam Express in Andhra Pradesh.

A tragic incident unfolded near Yalamanchili in Andhra Pradesh when two coaches of the Tatanagar–Ernakulam Express caught fire shortly after midnight on Monday. The incident occurred around 12:45 am, sending panic through passengers onboard the long-distance train. Railway and police officials rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the alert.

According to senior police officials, the fire affected two air-conditioned coaches, B1 and another adjoining compartment. At the time of the incident, a total of 158 passengers were traveling in the two coaches—82 in one and 76 in the other. Emergency protocols were activated to ensure the safe evacuation of all passengers.

Sadly, one passenger lost his life in the incident. The deceased was identified as Chandrsekhar Sundaram, whose body was recovered from the B1 coach after the fire was brought under control. Authorities confirmed that no other fatalities were reported, though several passengers were left shaken by the ordeal.

Following the incident, the two damaged coaches were detached from the train to prevent further risk. The remaining portion of the Tatanagar–Ernakulam Express continued its journey toward Ernakulam. Railway officials assured that alternative arrangements would be made to help affected passengers reach their destinations safely.

To determine the exact cause of the fire, two forensic teams have been deployed at the site. Investigators are examining whether the blaze was caused by an electrical fault, mechanical failure, or other factors. Officials stated that a detailed report will follow after the investigation is complete.

The incident has once again raised concerns over passenger safety on long-distance trains. Railway authorities emphasized that safety audits and preventive measures are being reviewed to avoid such incidents in the future, as passengers and families await answers.
