Blinkit Turns Roast into Applause as 10-Minute Delivery Leaves US Hosts Shocked
Blinkit’s live 10-minute delivery demo surprises US hosts, triggering praise and criticism across social media.
A Bengaluru-based Blinkit software engineer turned a US comedy roast into an impromptu celebration when she orchestrated a live 10-minute delivery of an iPhone 17 Pro Max during the popular Tech Roast Show. In a viral Instagram video posted by Ishita Arora, the stand-up hosts—known for mercilessly mocking tech companies—appeared stunned as Arora placed the order on stage, a timer was started, and minutes later the delivery partner was invited inside the auditorium to a standing ovation. The partner, speaking through a translator, revealed he completes around 45 orders daily, almost all within the promised 10-minute window, prompting the American audience to erupt in applause.
The clip quickly crossed a million views, but reactions across social media have been sharply polarised. Many praised the moment for humanising gig workers, with comments celebrating the decision to bring the delivery agent on stage and applaud his effort. “Real sweet to bring the delivery man in and clap for him—he and thousands like him make our convenience possible,” one widely liked comment read. Arora herself captioned the reel, “Turned roast show into a toast show,” earning appreciation for flipping the narrative from mockery to admiration.
However, a significant section of viewers condemned the demonstration as an unwitting showcase of labour exploitation. Critics argued that ultra-fast delivery models rely on underpaid workers racing against impossible timelines in dangerous traffic conditions. “Nothing to be proud of when it’s built on cheap labour and zero work-life balance,” one top comment stated. Others called quick commerce environmentally unsustainable and socially regressive, accusing it of normalising instant gratification at the cost of worker welfare and fostering wasteful consumption habits among the privileged few.

The incident has reignited broader debates about India’s quick-commerce boom, with detractors insisting that 10-minute deliveries are neither essential nor ethical, while supporters view them as a testament to Indian engineering and operational efficiency. As the video continues to trend globally, it has inadvertently placed the working conditions of gig delivery partners—long a domestic concern—under international scrutiny, leaving the internet divided between awe at the technological feat and unease over the human cost behind it.
