BJP Win Will Restore Industry Confidence in Bengal: Sanjiv Goenka

Sanjiv Goenka is optimistic BJP victory restores business confidence in Bengal.

Sanjiv Goenka has expressed optimism that a victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal could help restore industry confidence and attract fresh investments into the state. Speaking amid ongoing Assembly election trends, the industrialist emphasized the importance of stable governance in reviving investor trust and accelerating economic growth.

Goenka, who heads the RPSG Group, made his remarks as early results indicated a major shift in the state’s political landscape. As per available data at the time, the BJP-led alliance was leading in 203 out of 294 seats, potentially marking its first-ever electoral victory in West Bengal. The Trinamool Congress, which has been in power for years, was trailing with leads in 84 seats.

Highlighting his personal connection to the region, Goenka said he has a strong emotional interest in the development of Kolkata and the state as a whole. He expressed hope to contribute, even in a small way, to its transformation and progress, noting that expectations from a potential new government are significant. According to him, rebuilding industry confidence will be a crucial step toward long-term growth.

The business leader stressed the need to attract skilled talent and investment to the state, irrespective of their origin. He underlined that businesses require a consistent and predictable policy framework to operate effectively, adding that sudden reversals or lack of continuity in policies can discourage investors and slow down economic momentum.

Goenka also voiced confidence that a BJP-led administration could create a more business-friendly environment by ensuring policy stability and encouraging private investment. Such measures, he suggested, would help generate employment opportunities and strengthen the state’s economic foundation over time, benefiting both industries and local communities.

At the same time, election trends in other states reflected varied outcomes for the BJP. While the party showed strong performance in Assam, it did not secure similar results in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The broader electoral picture highlights regional differences in political preferences, even as industry stakeholders continue to assess the potential economic impact of these developments.
