Assam’s Hotel Palacio Plans Pan-India Expansion With Rs 800 Crore Hospitality Investment

Hotel Palacio announces Rs 800 crore expansion plan aiming to grow beyond Northeast India.

Assam-based hospitality group Poddar Group on Thursday announced an ambitious expansion plan aimed at taking its premium hotel brand, Hotel Palacio, from a regional presence to a pan-India footprint. The announcement was made alongside the launch of the brand’s second property in Guwahati’s Paltan Bazar area, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth strategy.

Hotel Palacio, which has been operating for the past ten years as a premium hospitality brand rooted in Assam, now has three properties in its portfolio. With the latest addition in Guwahati, the brand strengthens its presence in the state’s commercial hub. The third property is located in Alipurduar, West Bengal, reflecting the group’s gradual expansion beyond Assam and into neighbouring markets.

The Poddar Group has outlined a long-term investment roadmap worth around ₹800 crore, under which it plans to develop 10 hospitality properties over the next decade. While the Northeast remains the core focus of its growth strategy, the company has also signalled its intention to expand into other major Indian cities, with Kolkata identified as the first step in its pan-India journey.

Chairman Anup Poddar said the vision is to establish Hotel Palacio as one of the most respected hospitality brands to emerge from Assam. He emphasised that the brand’s growth strategy is rooted in regional identity while adapting to changing market demands. According to him, the Northeast has seen rising aspirations, improved connectivity, and increasing demand for quality hospitality services in recent years.

Poddar also highlighted Guwahati’s importance in the group’s expansion plans, describing it as a key gateway to the Northeast. He noted that the city continues to witness strong demand across business, transit, and leisure segments, making it a natural choice for further investment. The new property, he said, aligns with the broader trend of growing hospitality demand in emerging urban centres.

Looking ahead, the group plans to scale its operations carefully while maintaining service quality and brand identity. With its upcoming expansion into Kolkata and other potential markets, Poddar Group aims to position Hotel Palacio as a nationally recognised hospitality name while retaining its strong roots in Assam and the Northeast region.
