April 1 Petrol And Diesel Prices Released For Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru

Petrol and diesel prices updated across Indian cities.

Petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged across major Indian cities on April 1, 2026, marking a steady start to the new financial year 2026-27 amid global crude oil volatility.Oil marketing companies (OMCs) like Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum updated rates daily at 6 AM, with no revisions reported in metros including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru. In the national capital, petrol is retailing at Rs 94.77 per litre and diesel at Rs 87.67 per litre, figures consistent for several weeks. These prices reflect the dynamic daily pricing mechanism introduced in 2017, which factors in international crude benchmarks and exchange rates.

Mumbai, among the costliest cities for fuel, saw petrol at Rs 103.54 per litre and diesel at Rs 90.03 per litre, unchanged from prior days. Similarly, Kolkata recorded petrol at Rs 105.45 per litre and diesel at Rs 92.02 per litre, while Bengaluru's rates stood at Rs 102.96 for petrol and Rs 90.99 for diesel. Variations stem from state-specific taxes, dealer commissions, and central excise duties, which have kept retail prices stable despite geopolitical tensions in West Asia affecting crude supplies.

The stability provides relief to consumers and commuters at a time when inflation concerns linger ahead of state elections. Premium variants and LPG saw hikes, but standard auto fuels held firm, with diesel prices in top cities averaging between Rs 87.62 and Rs 95.70 per litre. Experts attribute this to OMCs absorbing global fluctuations, as Brent crude hovered around recent highs without triggering revisions.

For Bengaluru residents, these rates—petrol Rs 102.92-102.96 per litre and diesel Rs 89.02-90.99—impact daily transport costs amid the city's heavy traffic reliance on two-wheelers and cabs. Commuters can check exact prices via the OMC apps or SMS services for their locality, as rates may vary slightly by neighborhood. This unchanged pricing continues a trend of over 10 months without hikes in standard fuels, offering predictability for households and logistics sectors. Motorists are advised to monitor updates, as any sharp crude movements could prompt changes soon.
