Andhra Pradesh Aims for Zero Crime with Tech-Driven Governance, Says CM Naidu

AP CM Naidu Sets Stage For Tech Driven Crime Combat

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has set an ambitious goal to make the state a zero-crime zone by harnessing cutting-edge technology. In a high-level review meeting on Real-Time Governance at the Secretariat, Naidu outlined a bold strategy to transform Andhra Pradesh into a model state for law and order through innovative tech solutions.

Naidu directed officials to ramp up surveillance by deploying CCTV cameras to monitor crime hotspots round-the-clock, ensuring swift action against criminal activities. He proposed revising regulations to tap into footage from private CCTV cameras, such as those in shopping malls, theaters, and hotels, to bolster crime prevention efforts. “Private cameras are a valuable resource for public safety,” he said, emphasizing their role in investigations.

The Chief Minister also called for stricter measures against individuals who exploit political affiliations to commit crimes and deflect blame onto the government. He suggested invoking the Public Safety Act to collect data on such offenders, urging officials to identify and address these culprits decisively.

To further strengthen governance, Naidu advocated for the use of blockchain technology to secure government records, particularly revenue data, ensuring transparency and tamper-proof systems. He also proposed integrating data from various departments into a centralized data lake for seamless access and analysis.

In a push for advanced monitoring, Naidu emphasized expanding the use of drones and CCTV cameras across sectors. He inquired about the development of the Drone City project in Orvakallu, signaling a focus on futuristic infrastructure. Additionally, he stressed the need for efficient early warning systems in lightning-prone areas, including timely siren activations to save lives, and the restoration of physio-meters and sensors to track groundwater levels.

Naidu also highlighted the importance of real-time water management, directing officials to accurately record reservoir water levels, inflows, and outflows to enhance flood management. He further instructed that critical updates from the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) on sea wave activity and fishing zones be promptly shared with coastal communities.

On the digital governance front, officials reported that 517 citizen services are currently accessible via WhatsApp Governance. Naidu, however, insisted on making all services more user-friendly to ensure seamless public access.

With this tech-driven vision, Chief Minister Naidu is steering Andhra Pradesh toward a safer, smarter, and more responsive future, setting a benchmark for governance nationwide.
