Ajit Doval Calls For Maritime Security At International Security Forum In Moscow

Doval urges global unity against terrorism and maritime threats.

India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has called for stronger international cooperation on maritime security and counter-terrorism while expressing India’s readiness to support efforts aimed at reducing tensions in West Asia. Speaking at a major international security gathering in Moscow, Doval warned that prolonged instability in the region could pose serious risks to global economic and strategic stability.

Addressing the XIV International Meeting of High-Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters and the First International Security Forum, Doval emphasised the urgent need to safeguard global trade routes and energy corridors. The summit, which concluded after four days, brought together more than 140 international delegations, including national security advisers, intelligence officials and senior security representatives from multiple countries to discuss emerging global threats.

Doval highlighted the situation in West Asia as a major concern for the international community, noting that the ongoing tensions threaten regional peace, maritime commerce and critical energy infrastructure. He cautioned that disruptions to global oil and gas supplies could have far-reaching consequences for the world economy, particularly at a time of increasing geopolitical uncertainty.

The Indian NSA specifically stressed the importance of ensuring secure and uninterrupted commercial shipping through key international waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea. These routes remain central to global energy transportation and international trade, and recent instability in the region has raised concerns over shipping safety and supply chain disruptions.

On the issue of terrorism, Doval urged the international community to adopt a uniform and uncompromising approach against extremist threats. He stated that there should be no “double standards” in addressing terrorism and asserted that all countries carry a shared responsibility in combating global terror networks and related security challenges.

India’s remarks at the Moscow forum come amid heightened geopolitical tensions across West Asia and growing international concern over maritime security, energy flows and transnational terrorism. By reiterating its willingness to contribute to de-escalation efforts and advocating coordinated global action, India signalled its intent to play an active role in broader regional and international security discussions.
