Air India Teams Up With Riyadh Air to Build a Seamless India-Saudi Travel Corridor

Air India and Riyadh Air sign MOU to enable seamless codeshare flights across both networks.

Tata Group-owned Air India and Saudi Arabia's national carrier Riyadh Air have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for a future codeshare partnership and interline agreement. The proposed collaboration aims to strengthen connectivity between India and Saudi Arabia while expanding travel options for passengers across both airlines' networks.

According to a statement, the agreement is intended to create seamless travel opportunities by leveraging the strategic locations of the airlines' key hubs in Delhi, Mumbai, and Riyadh. The partnership is expected to improve access to destinations across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and other international markets served by the two carriers.

Subject to regulatory approvals, Air India and Riyadh Air plan to introduce interline and codeshare arrangements that would allow passengers to book journeys across both airlines through a single ticket. The arrangement is also expected to simplify baggage transfers and provide smoother transit experiences for travelers connecting through the respective hub airports.

The agreement marks an important step for Riyadh Air, which is expanding its international presence as part of Saudi Arabia's broader aviation and tourism ambitions. For Air India, the partnership aligns with its ongoing transformation strategy focused on network expansion, international growth, and enhanced customer experience following its acquisition by the Tata Group.

Industry observers believe the proposed partnership could significantly benefit business and leisure travelers between India and Saudi Arabia, a corridor that witnesses substantial passenger traffic due to trade, tourism, and the large Indian expatriate community in the Gulf nation. Further details regarding routes, timelines, and operational arrangements are expected once regulatory clearances are obtained.
