Air India Express Responds To Dammam-Delhi Bomb Threat, Investigation Underway
Airline responds after Dammam-Delhi flight bomb threat investigation.
Air India Express on Thursday confirmed that law enforcement agencies are investigating a security-related incident involving its Dammam-Delhi flight after a bomb threat was reported onboard on August 31. The airline said it had filed a complaint and was fully cooperating with the authorities investigating the incident.
The flight was diverted to Ahmedabad as a precaution after a crew member discovered a tissue paper bearing the word “bomb” inside the aircraft’s lavatory. Following the discovery, the airline alerted the government-appointed Bomb Threat Assessment Committee and initiated the required security protocols before the aircraft landed at Ahmedabad Airport.
All 32 passengers onboard were safely deboarded at Terminal 2, according to Ahmedabad Police. Security agencies subsequently carried out a thorough inspection of the aircraft as part of the response to the threat. The aircraft was to be released for operations only after the necessary security checks were completed.

Air India Express condemned any conduct that compromises or has the potential to compromise the safety and security of passengers, crew members and flight operations. The airline confirmed that it would continue to cooperate with the relevant law enforcement agencies as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the bomb threat.
“Appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation,” the airline noted in its statement. The carrier also reiterated that the diversion and subsequent inspection were carried out in accordance with established security procedures after authorities were notified of the specific threat.
The incident had prompted a precautionary response without any reported casualties among the passengers or crew. Investigating agencies are now examining the threat and the circumstances in which the note was placed inside the aircraft, while Air India Express awaits the findings of the probe before determining further action.
