Adani Ports to Sign Multiple Long-Term MoUs at India Maritime Week 2025

Adani Ports to sign long-term MoUs expanding its marine services.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) will sign multiple long-term Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during India Maritime Week 2025, reinforcing its dominance in marine services and harbour operations. The flagship event, hosted at the Bombay Convention & Exhibition Centre from October 28–30, will feature APSEZ’s dedicated pavilion showcasing its integrated logistics ecosystem, including 13 domestic ports, seven terminals, and the nation’s largest private multi-port operator network. The MoUs, focused on cargo handling, dredging, and marine infrastructure, are expected to enhance throughput capacity and streamline supply chains across eastern and western coasts.

Under its harbour business vertical, APSEZ aims to secure partnerships with global shipping lines, logistics providers, and coastal state governments to expand container transshipment, bulk cargo movement, and cruise tourism. The company, which handled a record 420 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo in FY24, is targeting 500 MMT by 2026 through organic growth and strategic alliances. Key discussions will centre on Vizhinjam International Seaport—India’s first deep-water transshipment hub, set for partial commissioning in December 2025—and Dhamra and Gopalpur ports, where APSEZ has recently scaled LNG and green ammonia handling capabilities.

The announcements come amid India’s push to elevate its share in global maritime trade from 2.2 per cent to 5 per cent by 2030, backed by the Sagarmala programme’s ₹6 lakh crore investment pipeline. APSEZ’s participation aligns with national goals of reducing logistics costs to 8 per cent of GDP and boosting coastal shipping. The company’s stock rose 2.1 per cent in early trading on October 26, reflecting investor confidence in its expansion roadmap.

With India Maritime Week drawing over 3,000 delegates—including shipowners, port authorities, and policymakers—APSEZ’s MoUs will underscore its pivotal role in modernising India’s maritime infrastructure. The deals, expected to be formalised during panel sessions on October 29, will also highlight sustainable practices, such as shore power adoption and green fuel bunkering, positioning APSEZ as a leader in decarbonising port operations.
