Hyderabad Youth Held by Rajkot Police for Theft; Separately Booked Under Sovereignty, Enmity Charges

Rajkot police arrested a Hyderabad youth for theft who faces separate sovereignty endangerment charges.

The Rajkot City Police have arrested a 20-year-old man from Hyderabad, Telangana, in connection with an alleged theft case involving ₹1.5 lakh. The accused, identified as Asif alias Budho Hanif Kundha, was taken into custody for allegedly stealing the money from a friend. Police officials said the arrest was made as part of an investigation into a case registered in Rajkot, Gujarat.

According to investigators, Kundha is also wanted in a separate case registered by the CID Cybercrime Police, where he has been booked under serious charges including endangering India’s sovereignty, unity, and integrity, promoting enmity between groups, spreading rumours, and transmitting sexually explicit material online. These charges were reportedly filed after he allegedly uploaded several controversial videos on social media.

Police sources said that the videos contained abusive language directed at Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi. In the clips, Kundha allegedly referred to incidents related to the desecration of religious scripture and the image of a community leader, claiming that authorities had not taken action over the matter. Officials stated that the content of the videos was considered inflammatory and capable of disturbing communal harmony.

Police Inspector Jayesh Kaila said the arrest was primarily linked to the theft case, while declining to comment further on the separate investigation being handled by authorities in Gandhinagar.

The accused is expected to be produced before a local court as the investigation continues. Authorities are also examining his online activities and the circumstances surrounding both the theft allegation and the cybercrime case to determine further legal action.
