Dubai Hit Twice in 24 Hours; US Embassy in Baghdad Struck by Drone Attack

Dubai's financial hub was struck twice as drones hit the US Baghdad embassy compound.

A building in the financial district of Dubai was struck by debris from an intercepted aerial attack late Friday, marking the second such incident in less than 24 hours as tensions escalate during the ongoing US–Israel–Iran war. Authorities said the debris hit the façade of a building in the city’s central business district but caused no injuries or fire, and the situation was quickly brought under control.

According to the Dubai Media Office, the damage resulted from fragments falling after air defence systems successfully intercepted the incoming threat. The debris struck a building in the Dubai International Financial Centre, a major hub for regional banking and corporate activity. Officials said emergency teams responded swiftly and confirmed that the area remained safe following the incident.

Witnesses reported hearing powerful explosions shortly before the damage was discovered. Residents in nearby buildings described a loud blast that shook the ground and rattled windows across the district. One witness told reporters the noise was the loudest they had ever heard, while another described seeing a large cloud of black smoke rising over the skyline shortly after the explosions.

Meanwhile, in Baghdad, a drone attack targeted the United States Embassy in Baghdad early Saturday, according to Iraqi security officials. Witnesses reported smoke rising from inside the embassy compound after the strike, and security sources confirmed that an unmanned aerial vehicle had hit the diplomatic facility.

The reported attack followed earlier strikes against the Iran-backed militia group Kataeb Hezbollah. Security sources said a missile strike hit a residence used by the group, killing two members, including what officials described as a key figure. The strike also left two other members wounded, further escalating tensions in the region amid the broader conflict.

The latest incidents underscore the widening impact of the Middle East conflict, which has already disrupted regional security and global energy markets. As the war enters its second week, analysts warn that attacks on infrastructure and diplomatic sites could further destabilise the region and raise concerns about the safety of major international cities and strategic facilities.
