Iran Strikes Gulf Again, Smoke Billows Over Dubai’s Skyline
Satellite images show smoke over Dubai’s skyline amid ongoing Iranian attacks across the Gulf.
Satellite images and eyewitness accounts show plumes of thick black smoke rising above parts of the Dubai skyline, including areas around the Palm Jumeirah and other major urban landmarks, amid escalating military strikes by Iran across the Gulf region. The imagery comes as Iran has launched waves of missiles and drones in retaliation for recent attacks by the United States and Israel on Iranian territory.
According to experts analysing satellite data, the contrast between peaceful cityscapes earlier in February and the smoke‑covered skyline seen on March 1 highlights how sharply conditions have changed within days. Dubai, long perceived as a stable economic and expatriate hub, has now experienced its first significant spill‑over from broader regional hostilities.
The black smoke seen rising in the images appears to come from multiple sites, including the Palm Jumeirah and the Jebel Ali port area, where fires broke out after intercepted missiles or drone debris struck infrastructure. Local authorities confirmed emergency response teams were deployed to manage fires and that several people were injured in these incidents.

The broader conflict, triggered by coordinated strikes on Iran by U.S. and Israeli forces, has led to casualties across multiple countries. Independent tallies suggest hundreds of deaths inside Iran, with additional deaths and injuries reported in Israel and among U.S. service members.
Within Dubai, the attacks have disrupted daily life and shaken public confidence in the city’s long‑held image as a safe international centre for business and tourism. Airspace closures, flight cancellations, and heightened security measures have compounded the impact on residents and visitors alike.
Authorities in the United Arab Emirates have emphasised that most incoming threats were intercepted by advanced defence systems, limiting large‑scale damage, and have urged the public to rely on official updates amid an environment of circulating videos and speculation.
