3-Year-Old Allegedly Assaulted At Delhi Day Care, Raises Child Safety Concerns
Child allegedly assaulted at Delhi day care, prompting investigation.
A three-year-old child was allegedly physically assaulted at a day care in Delhi’s Maujpur area, with CCTV footage reportedly showing the child being restrained and mistreated inside a classroom. Delhi Police has registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Four people have been named as accused, including the school’s director Sunita Bansal, principal Neelam and teachers Simran and Pooja, while a caretaker has been arrested, police said.
The incident came to light after the child complained of ear pain to his parents, who also noticed bruises on his face and arms. The family took him to a doctor, who reportedly found swelling in both eardrums and indicated that the injuries appeared consistent with physical assault. The parents subsequently approached the school administration and raised concerns about possible mistreatment of their child.
According to the family, the school initially denied that the child had been assaulted. The parents then sought access to CCTV footage from the classroom to understand what had happened. The child’s father alleged that the school administration asked for Rs 1,500 before providing the login credentials needed to access the recordings. The family subsequently obtained the footage and reviewed recordings from August 16, 17 and 18.

The parents allege that the CCTV recordings show the child being tied to a chair using an apron and being physically mistreated by staff members. The footage reportedly also shows a teacher moving the child’s chair across the classroom using her leg before allegedly slapping him. The family has alleged that the child was restrained for an extended period and subjected to repeated physical abuse.
Following the parents’ complaint, Delhi Police registered a case under the POCSO Act and initiated an investigation. The police have named four individuals in the case and arrested a caretaker in connection with the allegations. Investigators are examining the CCTV recordings and other available evidence as they determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and the roles of those named in the complaint.
The case has raised serious concerns about the safety and supervision of young children in day-care and school environments. The allegations are being investigated by the police, and the CCTV footage, medical findings and statements from the family and school staff will form part of the investigation. Authorities are expected to establish what occurred inside the classroom and determine responsibility based on the evidence collected.
