Telangana Sikhs to Honour 350th Martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur with Grand Week-long Events
A week of devotion and unity to mark Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s legacy.
Hyderabad is set to witness a vibrant and spiritually uplifting week as the Sikh community of Telangana commemorates the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of the Ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Saheb Ji, from November 23 to 30. The week-long observance will pay tribute to the Guru’s unparalleled sacrifice for upholding religious freedom and protecting human rights, values that continue to inspire millions across the world.
Organised under the aegis of the Prabandhak Committee of Gurudwara Saheb Sitaphalmandi, Secunderabad, the commemorative events will be held in collaboration with Sikh Gurudwaras across Telangana. The organisers have announced a series of spiritual and cultural programmes, including Nagar Kirtans (devotional processions), Vishal Kirtan Darbars (large congregational hymn-singing sessions), and special prayers highlighting Guru Tegh Bahadur’s teachings and martyrdom.
To mark the start of the observance, a Kirtan Darbar will take place on November 23 from 11 am to 2.30 pm at Gurudwara Saheb in Secunderabad. The highlight of the celebrations will be a grand Nagar Kirtan on November 25, beginning at 4.30 pm, where devotees will sing hymns and spread messages of peace, unity, and compassion along the procession route. The closing ceremony will feature a Vishal Kirtan Darbar on November 30 at NTR Stadium, Indira Park, from 10.30 am to 5 pm, attracting devotees from across the state.

Adding further significance, the Gurudwara will also celebrate the 350th Gurta Gaddi of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, marking the momentous occasion of his installation as the Tenth Sikh Guru. This dual observance aims to reflect the Sikh community’s collective reverence for its spiritual heritage and unwavering commitment to the principles of equality, service, and devotion laid down by the Gurus.
Committee Chairman Harpal Singh expressed that these events not only honour the memory of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji but also serve as a reminder of the importance of communal harmony and moral courage in contemporary times. The celebrations are expected to draw thousands of devotees, interfaith visitors, and dignitaries, transforming Hyderabad into a hub of devotion and unity throughout the week.
