Special Prayer Ceremony Held For Dalai Lama At Tsuglagkhang Temple In Dharamshala

Over 5,000 devotees gather in Dharamshala for long-life prayers for Dalai Lama.

A large-scale long-life prayer ceremony was held on Wednesday morning at the Tsuglagkhang temple complex in Dharamshala in honour of the Tibetan spiritual leader, the 14th Dalai Lama. The event took place at the Main Tibetan Temple and was jointly organised by the Dhasa Dhotoe Welfare Society and the Lodrik Welfare Association. The gathering drew a massive crowd of over 5,000 participants, including monks, nuns, and devotees from various countries.

The ceremony saw the participation of devotees who described the occasion as deeply spiritual and emotionally uplifting. Many attendees expressed gratitude for being present at the event, stating that the atmosphere reflected peace, compassion, and devotion. The prayers were conducted with the shared intention of wishing for the long life and good health of the Dalai Lama, who remains a central figure in Tibetan Buddhism and a global symbol of non-violence.

Visitors from different parts of the world shared their experiences of the gathering. Karen Queller, a devotee from Los Angeles, said she felt privileged to attend the ceremony and described the Dalai Lama as a symbol of compassion and kindness. Similarly, Leon Barsegian from Russia said the environment of collective prayer and unity left a strong impression, noting that the spiritual leader’s message resonates far beyond the Tibetan community.

Indian devotees also took part in the event, including Nitin from New Delhi, who travelled to Dharamshala specifically for the ceremony. He said the large international presence highlighted the universal appeal of the Dalai Lama’s teachings. Participants expressed that the gathering reinforced shared values of peace, harmony, and compassion across cultures and nationalities.

Organisers of the event said the ceremony was carefully coordinated to accommodate the large turnout. Tenzin Lhakdor, one of the organisers from Nepal, stated that devotees from multiple countries came together to offer prayers collectively. He added that the collaboration between welfare associations ensured smooth arrangements and that participants felt spiritually fulfilled by the experience.

The prayer ceremony concluded with continued chants and offerings at the temple complex, leaving devotees with a sense of unity and devotion. The event once again highlighted the enduring influence of the 14th Dalai Lama, whose teachings continue to attract followers from across the globe and reinforce messages of peace and compassion.
