Siddipet Police Crack Double Murder Case, Arrest Mother-Son Duo
Police recover cash, jewellery after solving Telangana double murder case.
Police have arrested a 38-year-old woman and her minor son in connection with two alleged murders and a robbery in Siddipet district, Telangana. Investigators said the duo targeted vulnerable people, particularly women living alone, after monitoring their movements, financial circumstances and personal disputes. The woman, identified as Chakali Rajitha, was arrested and sent to judicial remand, while her minor son was sent to a juvenile detention home.
The investigation began after police recovered the partially burnt body of an unidentified woman beside a road near Ramakkapet village in Dubbaka mandal on August 8. The victim was later identified as Atikam Vijaya, 45, a resident of Bhoompally. According to police, Rajitha and her son allegedly lured Vijaya to a grocery shop near her home before strangling her. Investigators said the suspects then transported her body on a TVS XL and allegedly set it on fire near the roadside at Ramakkapet.
CCTV footage collected from surrounding villages reportedly helped police trace the movements of the suspects and reconstruct the sequence of events. During the investigation, officers allegedly linked the duo to another murder involving Kunta Rekha, who was killed on May 28. Police said Rekha's body was allegedly taken to a forest area near Achchamayapalli and burnt. The two alleged murders occurred between May 28 and August 8, with investigators continuing to examine whether the suspects were involved in other offences.

Police also linked the accused to an alleged robbery reported in June 2025 involving Annapurna of Bhoompally. Investigators said Annapurna was attacked while she was out walking and robbed of a five-tola gold mangalsutra. Police claimed the accused had been identifying potential victims by observing their routines and circumstances, and had allegedly shortlisted four additional people for possible attacks in the future.
Investigators recovered 5.61 tolas of gold, 53 tolas of silver, Rs 1.03 lakh in cash, two mobile phones and a blue TVS XL from the accused. Police estimated the total value of the recovered property at around Rs 10 lakh. Siddipet Police Commissioner Sadhana Rashmi Perumal said the case was cracked within a week through coordinated efforts involving local police, the CCS and Task Force teams.
Rajitha has been sent to judicial remand, while her minor son has been placed in a juvenile home as the investigation continues. Police are now examining the evidence gathered during the probe and checking whether the accused may have links to any other criminal cases. Investigators are also expected to verify the alleged list of additional targets and establish the full circumstances surrounding the two deaths and robbery.
