RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Honors Sacrifices as Saffron Flag Is Hoisted Atop Ram Temple

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat hails saffron flag hoisting atop Ayodhya Ram Temple as historic.

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday hailed the hoisting of the saffron flag atop the Ram Temple in Ayodhya as a historic moment symbolizing the completion of the temple’s construction and honoring those who sacrificed their lives for it. Speaking at the flag-hoisting ceremony attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bhagwat described the flag as a powerful symbol of dharma and the values that underpin individual and societal well-being.

Bhagwat emphasized the long journey to this moment, noting that while the temple’s construction officially spanned around 30 years, the dream had persisted for centuries. He paid tribute to the countless individuals, both known and unsung, who dedicated their efforts toward realizing the temple’s completion and expressed hope that the souls of the martyrs rest in peace.

The saffron flag, described by Bhagwat as the ‘dharma dhwaj’, features the emblem of the Raghu dynasty—a kovidar (mandar) tree—and embodies principles that Bhagwat said will guide life across generations. This sacred flag thus not only marks a physical culmination but also a spiritual reaffirmation of those enduring values.

Bhagwat further said that the flag flying atop the 161-foot spire sends a message of Ram Rajya, evoking ideals of justice, righteousness, and harmony. The ceremony was held on a significant day, traditionally associated with Lord Ram’s wedding, linking the occasion to deep-rooted cultural and religious traditions.

The flag hoisting ceremony represents a vital chapter in the narrative of the Ram Temple’s construction and symbolizes unity, devotion, and the perseverance of faith carried forward by millions across India.
