Grand Dussehra Celebrations Across Greater Noida With Eco-Friendly Displays

The festival of Dussehra, celebrating the triumph of good over evil, will ignite Greater Noida with fervour on Thursday as massive effigies of Ravan, Kumbhkaran, and Meghnad are set ablaze across multiple venues, accompanied by vibrant, eco-friendly fireworks displays. Rooted in the Ramayana’s narrative of Lord Rama’s victory over the demon king Ravan, the celebrations blend tradition with environmental consciousness, drawing thousands to Ramlila grounds for a spectacle of fire, faith, and festivity. Below is a guide to the key effigy-burning events, showcasing the scale and timing of this year’s commemorations.

At Site 4, Industrial Area, a major hub, the ceremony kicks off at 8:00 p.m. with towering effigies: Ravan at 70 feet, Kumbhkaran at 65 feet, and Meghnad at 60 feet. The event promises a dramatic display, with sustainable pyrotechnics enhancing the visual grandeur while minimising environmental impact.

Similarly, Radhakrishna Park, Greater Noida West, hosts an 8:00 p.m. burning featuring a 65-foot Ravan, alongside 55-foot effigies of Kumbhkaran and Meghnad, expected to draw large crowds from nearby residential areas for its accessible location and cultural performances.

Sector Pi-1 will also stage an 8:00 p.m. event, with a 60-foot Ravan and 55-foot figures of Kumbhkaran and Meghnad, ensuring a synchronised citywide celebration.

In Surajpur, two distinct ceremonies add variety: the first at 7:00 p.m. features a 65-foot Ravan, 60-foot Kumbhkaran, and 55-foot Meghnad, while a second at 8:30 p.m. mirrors these dimensions, catering to different community pockets.

Rabupura starts earlier at 6:00 p.m., showcasing a 70-foot Ravan, 60-foot Kumbhkaran, and 50-foot Meghnad, appealing to rural attendees with its vibrant rural Ramlila traditions.

Dadri caps the night with a late 10:00 p.m. ceremony, burning a 65-foot Ravan and 60-foot Kumbhkaran, ensuring a fitting finale. Organisers across venues have prioritised eco-friendly materials for effigies and fireworks, responding to calls for sustainable celebrations amid air quality concerns.

Local authorities have deployed enhanced security and traffic management to handle crowds, while Ramlila performances narrating Rama’s saga precede each burning, enriching the cultural experience. Despite a concurrent dry day in nearby Bengaluru for Gandhi Jayanti, Greater Noida’s festivities remain unaffected, promising a joyous communal gathering under the autumn sky.
